Burning Lion is a participative event made by burners for burners. Its success hinges on your involvement!
How you can participate
Volunteering is a key dimension of every burn. Use your existing skills or try out a radically new task while making new friends at the same time. Check out our available roles and sign up below:
Build and Strike
Build means arriving at the site on wednesday to prepare all the structures necessary for the burn. The opposite of build, strike means taking down the installations and cleaning up the area after the burn. This also includes S.L.A.P. (sound, light and power) who ever is good in electricity is always welcome.
Key traits:
hands-on mentality, experienced with tools, good physical strength (not necessary but certainly a plus)
Shit Ninjas
Your role is essential – take part in the shield maiden team of compost and disease control. The on site compost toilets need to get set up. Make sure they are nice and clean, add toilet paper to the stalls, refill sanitizer, cleaning, etc.
Key traits:
hands on mentality, not afraid of dirt
Fluffer
Fluffers support volunteers during build and tear down with magic witchcraft, good mood, fun and treats. They generally guard hard working builders from the anger of labouring and take care of people to help keep everyone’s spirits up.
Key traits:
helpful, sociable, nurturing, intuitive, magic
Rangers and
S+ Guardians
Rangers help ensure the safety and well-being of the community. They serve as community mediators and provide reliable information.
S+ are there to make sure people are having a good and safe time in matters of S+.

reliable, patient, solution-oriented empathic, aware, consent knowledgable, social skills, friendly but firm,
Effigy Support
& Fire Safety
Effigy support involves setting up our effigy — the Lion — that will go up in flames on Saturday night. As fire safety you need to keep the moths from flying into the flames, hold water hoses and hope for the best positions during the burn.
Key traits:
hands-on mentality, experienced with tools, willingness to work outside, sobriety necessary
